Luton Town Forward Out in Another Blow for The Hatters

Luton Town will be without forward Jacob Brown for the rest of the season, with the 26-year-old needing surgery on his ankle.

The Scotland international lasted just 14 minutes in the teams 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough earlier this month. Since then, he had been working towards a return, but scans show the player requires surgery or could increase the severity of the injury.

“Browny is one of the most honest, hard-working guys I’ve come across in the game in terms of his honesty for himself and the group,” said boss Matt Bloomfield.

“He was actually doing really well as a finisher recently, impacting games, so we are bitterly disappointed to lose him for the rest of the season. (via Luton Town)”

Brown has struggled to make an impact this season, netting just four goals and getting a single assist. Despite the lack of statistic’s, Brown ha made a name for himself with the Hatters faithful due to his work rate and chasing almost every ball over the top.

Last season, after joining from Stoke City, the forward scored two goals in the sides Premier League adventure, including the winning goal against Crystal Palace.

In a message to supporters, the Scotland international outlined just how disappointed he was to miss the rest of the season.

“I am gutted that I will not be able to help the team and this club on the pitch in these final games but I will do everything I can to support the boys from the sideline. We need your support now more than ever ready for the final push.ā€

Since playing in the Premier League last campaign, Luton have had the year from hell and find themselves 23rd in the table, four points from safety.

Under Matt Bloomfield results have picked up, with two wins in their last five, but face a difficult run-in, taking on relegation rivals Hull City and Derby County, alongside promotion chasing Leeds United, Bristol City and Coventry City.

In some positive news Tahith Chong could return o the first-team picture for this weekends game with Hull City. Chong has not played since January.

The Hatters will be looking to avoid back-to-back relegations, whilst the loss of Brown could be big, the game against Hull is bigger. A win at the KCOM and Luton Town are right back in the mix to stay up.
