EXCLUSIVE – Tyreeq Bakinson Targeted by Bolton & Wigan in Summer Move

The Lower Tiers understands that Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic are monitoring the
situation of Wycombe’s Tyreeq Bakinson.

The central defensive midfielder has struggled for minutes with the Chairboys this season
after joining on a free transfer last summer which piqued the interest of Luton Town and
French side Standard Liege in January.

Tyreeq Bakinson, who started his career at Luton after coming up through the youth team, has
made 25 appearances in League One this campaign with only 10 of them being starts.

The 26-year-old is racking up a wealth of EFL experience through playing at Luton, Bristol
City, Sheffield Wednesday, current club, Wycombe and though loan stints with Newport
County, Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic.

He’s a player that made a name for himself in League Two initially before plying his trade at
the top of League One and the occasional flirt with Championship football.

The Englishman has also played a hand in two promotions. The first coming with Plymouth
Argyle from League Two in the 2019/20 season and the second coming with Sheffield
Wednesday via the League One Play-offs in 2023.

That wealth of experience and know-how when it comes to promotion will be invaluable to
any team looking to reach the Championship next season.

Tyreeq Bakinson would be a smart move for any League One side used throwing away
winning positions late on in games. He’s typically seen coming on with a few minutes to
spare to guarantee a win with the defensive side of his game being his best at the height of 6
ft 3 in.
