EXCLUSIVE: League One Clubs Chasing Southend’s Keenan Appiah-Forson

A number of League One clubs are interested in 22-year-old Keenan Appiah-Forson after an impressive first season at Southend, The Lower Tiers understands.

The ex-West-Ham player won Southend United’s Young Player Of The Season award for the 2024/25 season as it became apparent that The Shrimpers had a special player on his hands.

To the knowledge of League One clubs, Appiah-Forson is only going to get better and with his contract coming to an end next summer, it will take a decent fee to sign one of Southend’s biggest assets.

Southend United’s Young Player Of The Season primarily plays as a right winger but can also drop into central midfielder due to his stamina and high intensity style of play.

The 2024/24 Season

Appiah-Forson has made 37 appearances for The Blues this season whilst scoring two and assisting one.

Only 16 of those have been starts but most of those have come towards the end of the season and has played a huge part in Southend’s National League promotion push via the Play-Offs which is yet to come to a conclusion.

Despite being 3-1 down, Southend came from behind to beat Rochdale 4-3 after extra time in the National League Play-Off Quarter Final.

Keenan Appiah-Forson played all 120 minutes in the tie and is expected to play a huge role in Wednesday’s semi-final when they travel to Forest Green Rovers.

Keenan Appiah-Forson’s Career So Far

Born in Greenwich, Appiah-Forson learned his trade in West Ham United’s academy before gaining experience on loan in the Vanarama National League with Dagenham & Redbridge during the 2023/24 season.

Forson made his senior debut for West Ham in a 1–0 loss against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Europa League, coming on as an 87th minute substitute for Sonny Perkins.

In 2024, West Ham announced that Keenan Appiah-Forson would be leaving the club in the summer which led to his move to Southend United on a two-year-deal.
