Five Key Bradford City Fixtures To Look Out For Next Season

Bradford City will open their EFL League One campaign with a clash against Wycombe Wanderers on the second of August. This will kick-off a long, tiring but also rewarding 46-game calendar which will determine the Bantams’ finishing position come next May.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at five key Bradford City fixtures for next season.

Key Bradford City Fixtures

Bradford City Fixture One: Wycombe Wanderers (H)

We start with City’s opening game of the season against Wycombe Wanderers. This fixture will mark the first time the Bantams have played in the English third tier since their relegation in 2019.

The fixture also offers fans, pundits and critics the chance to see what a new-look Bradford City will play like.

Bradford City Fixture 2: Huddersfield Town (H)

City and Huddersfield Town haven’t locked horns in a league fixture since 2013. But, on the 13th of September at the University of Bradford Stadium, the two sides will meet.

The fixture will arguably be a near sell-out from both home fans and away fans. This, combined with the fierce rivalry between the two sides, will create a tense and hostile atmosphere in the ground.

This fixture has been moved for Sky Sports coverage and will have an earlier kick-off time of 12:30.

Bradford City Fixture 3: Lincoln City (H)

When Lincoln City come to the University of Bradford Stadium, the centre focus is not often on the football. Instead, it is on the 56 fans who tragically lost their lives in the Bradford City stadium fire in 1985 in a match between Bradford City and Lincoln City. With this likely to take a focus, the atmosphere will be sombre and respectful.

But, there will also be a football match to be played. At this stage in the season (11th of October), we arguably will start to see the best of both sides. This should create a good football game.

Bradford City Fixture 4: Doncaster Rovers (A)

Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City were in the same league last season. But, it was in this fixture that the Rovers were able to win promotion through a 2-1 win. Now, with the two sides set to come together again, the Bantams will arguably be looking for revenge.

When Graham Alexander’s side visited the Eco Power stadium, the away side were given an allocation of 1,500 tickets. We may see this replicated in this fixture as the home side try to increase their chances of winning the game.

Furthermore, with this fixture being a Yorkshire derby, the atmosphere can be hostile. This could create a tense game with one side just coming out on top.

Bradford City Fixture 5: Bolton Wanderers (H)

The final fixture we have identified is the Bantams’ last home game of the season against Bolton Wanderers. With this being the last home game, the club will come together to remember the 56 who lost their lives in 1985.

It may also be a crucial day in deciding whether Bradford City play in EFL League One for the 2026-27 season.

Furthermore, the fixture could be crucial for Bolton if they are in the battle for promotion in the run-in.

This makes the fixture an interesting prospect and one to certainly keep an eye on.
