Derby County are set to complete the signings of Blackburn Rovers duo Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth.
Both Weimann and Batth’s contract ends at the end of this month, and it appears the chosen destination for both players, is Derby.
34-year-old Batth spent last season at Rovers following his exit from Norwich City. The defender would provide a wealth of Championship experience, having played 13 seasons at the level, as the team look to avoid another relegation scrap this season.
Batth also played 41 games for the Lancashire side campaign, easing any worry of his fitness being an issue at his new club.
Weimann, 33, also comes with a lot of experience but can offer more to the side than just a guiding voice.
The Austrian international netted seven league goals last season, just three less than Derby’s top scorer, Jerry Yates. Eustace will know he needs to add goals to this team, with Derby being just a handful of sides that scored under 50 goals in 2024-25.
Whilst Weimann’s move presents several qualities on the pitch, there is also sentimental value to the transfer.
The 33-year-old attacker spent a season and a half at Pride Park between August 2015 and January 2017. Weimann would return again between July 2017 and May 2018, making this move his third spell with the Rams faithful.
The pair are expected to sign one-year-deals in the coming days. They will become the sides second and third signings of the summer after the club secured the services of Luton Town forward Carlton Morris over the last week.
Eustace will hope, alongside Weimann, that Morris can ease the Rams goal woes after Jerry Yates returned to Swansea City following the conclusion of his loan spell.
