Birmingham City Eye Former Celtic Star

Birmingham City are pushing to complete a truly sensational deal for former Celtic attacker Kyogo Furuhashi as a part of a Japanese-led recruitment policy, Football League World have revealed.

The newly promoted side are eyeing yet another statement transfer window as they prepare for another exciting season after a return to the EFL Championship. With continued strong support from Knighthead, Birmingham certainly have the financial backing to complete this bold move for the former Celtic star this summer.

Why Furuhashi for Birmingham City?

The 30-year-old enjoyed a largely successful three-and-a-half-year spell with Celtic, scoring 86 times from a total of 167 appearances. However, his move to Rennes hasn’t worked out, and a move to the Championship could be on the cards with his new side not offering the playing time expected.

While it is unclear whether Birmingham are chasing a loan or permanent switch, it has been made very clear that the Blues are moving forward in negotiations to bring Furuhashi back to the United Kingdom, and if Chris Davies’ side could pull off the deal, it would continue to prove that Birmingham are not messing about.

Can Birmingham Pull This Move Off?

As mentioned earlier, Birmingham certainly possess the financial firepower to get them over the line. However, to see Furuhashi playing with the Championship Side would be an absolutely huge surprise.

As the 30-year-old enters the prime stages of his footballing career, a return back to the United Kingdom wouldn’t be the worst move possible for him. He’s definitely proven at the highest levels he can score goals, and a move to Birmingham would allow the Japanese Star to enjoy a few seasons and maybe earn one more big move before he starts planning for life after football.

Birmingham certainly don’t seem afraid this transfer window, and with the calibre of players Chris Davies and the board want to bring, there is nothing actually stopping Furuhashi from saying no to this shock move. For us, it could be a master stroke for The Brummies, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
