Bradford City have announced the signing of frontman Will Swan, who joins the club on a permanent basis.
Swan, 24, played his football at Crawley last season, where he was able to score seven goals. He was also able to assist on four occasions.
During his spells at Mansfield Town and Crawley, the Englishman has made 118 appearances.
At his time at both clubs, he was also able to net on 27 occasions.
A Crucial Summer Window For Bradford City
Swan joins Bradford in a crucial summer transfer window. The forward becomes the eighth signing of the Bantams’ summer transfer window.
The Valley Parade outfit will be aiming to consolidate in EFL League One after being automatically promoted.
During this campaign, the Bantams lost their focal point of their attack in Andy Cook to an ACL injury, so they had to rely on other players in the team to step up and bring the goals, which could be argued that the side struggled for goals on occasions.
The addition of Swan, who holds experience in the EFL League One and League Two, will add strength, depth, and most importantly, goals to the Bantams’ frontline.
What Qualities Does Swan Bring?
The addition of Will Swan to Bradford adds quality to the side. However, there are some areas where the former Crawley man excels.
One of these areas is in possession. Where the former Mansfield man completed 11 successful dribbles ass well as created 20 chances with him assisting four times. This shows that the 24-year-old can impress and affect football games positively, even in a struggling side.
However, one thing in possession that Swan needs to work on is crossing. During the 24/25 campaign, he was only able to complete one successful cross and had a 10% crossing accuracy. This could be a problem as crossing is heavily a part of Bradford’s gameplay.
Furthermore, his defensive statistics were impressive in a struggling Crawley side. He won 85 duels and completed 19 successful tackles. This shows that Swan is a hard worker off the ball as he is attempting to win possession back for his side.
A Good Signing?
The signing of Will Swan has the potential to be excellent. He brings previous experience in the EFL League One, great skills, and knows how to hit the back of the net, most importantly.
Also, Swan will bring great versatility as he can play all over the front line. But with his crossing ability, could he be successful in a Graham Alexander side?
