Hull City Set To Sign Premier League Attacker

Aston Villa man Louie Barry looks set to make a permanent return to Hull City in a deal believed to be worth £3.5 million, as the winger finally is on track to secure a long-term future after a history of loans, according to reports from Jacob Tanswell.

Barry, 22, has started to really kick on in recent seasons, his most notable being the opening half of the 2024/2025 season with Stockport, where the English wide man was able to grab a total of 16 goals and 2 assists in just a 24-game window, grabbing him widescale attention from plenty of clubs at the beginning of the new year.

Hull City were able to secure Barry on loan for the remainder of last season, but that spell at the MKM Stadium was to be cut short by an injury.

However, with the qualities that the Villa star can bring on an EFL stage, it does look to be a promising piece of business that could start to steer The Tigers in the right direction for next season.

What Exactly is Louie Barry Capable Of?

Louie Barry has plenty of traits that he may bring to Hull this time around as he looks to prove himself on the Championship stage for real.

However, there are certain aspects about the wingers game that make him a hell of a player.

The 22-year-old managed to register some wonderful stats at Stockport (via FotMob), and certain areas do stand out.

An xG of 9.5 goals is astronomically high for a winger, and also a pretty high success rate in the crossing department shows that Barry can be rather deadly from dangerous attacking situations.

However, versatility could prove to be another area that Hull make good use of if and when this deal is done.

Not only does the English Winger enjoy playing out along the left wing, but he is also capable of playing central roles of attacking midfield and also striker, which isn’t overly surprising considering the excellence that Barry has ahead of goal.

Will Hull Be Required To Pay Villa Funds Down The Line?

Reports on Louie Barry’s transfer seems as if the deal is done, but there is also set to be a large sell-on clause in the move, which would mean that Hull could lose a big chunk of profit made on the Englishman down the line.

Barry’s profits will likely be split between the two sides, as Hull retain a certain percent but also Aston Villa take back a certain amount for their former star.

It’s not the worst piece of business, but the sell on clause does mean The Tigers could lose out on some big money in years to come.

What do you think on this move? Are Hull making a good decision to bring in Barry on a permanent basis?
