Lewis O’Brien of Nottingham Forest is becoming a popular man among Championship sides, with Hull City and now Wrexham believed to be in the hunt for his signature this summer, via reports from Football League World.
Rumours circulating around Hull’s pursuit in O’Brien have deescalated over the last few days, since The Lower Tiers reported on a £5 million pound bid from the MKM Stadium outfit, with the interest at that stage very high from the Championship outfit…
The Tigers are still in the chase but also now are said to be considering other midfield options elsewhere.
Wrexham are set to also make their case to the Premier League man, though, which could bring some drama if both clubs are clear on wanting O’Briens signature this summer.
Who Holds The Lead In The Race For Lewis O’Brien?
At the moment, it isn’t exactly clear who holds the upper hand in the chase to sign Lewis O’Brien, but with Hull now searching the market to look for other potential acquisitions in the midfield are, it may mean Wrexham could stand a better chance at striking a deal.
Phil Parkinson’s side may now hold the advantage as Hull have seemingly backed off their pursuit of the Nottingham Forest man, with a high price tag potentially being one of many reasons that The Tigers are easing off the pressure in chasing down O’Brien’s signature this summer.
However, despite this, Hull City could again reconsider and make an ambitious swoop or another offer could fly in from somewhere else in the Championship, meaning that newly-promoted Wrexham have got to be ready on the financial front if they are setting their sights on O’Brien.
Wrexham Need To Be Bold In Order To Secure O’Brien
Newly-promoted Wrexham seem to be jumping into every transfer possible, but it seems that if they can show the right amount of financial bravery but also some determination in negotiations, that signing O’Brien could become a fantastic bit of business.
The Welsh-Based Side are of course going to have to add to their side as the Championship quality stands clear of anything they’ve faced upon their fantastic journey to make it thus far, and to have the experience of O’Brien in midfield would be a huge boost for the whole team next season.
It kind of feels like Wrexham should be all over this deal, and that a move to Wales wouldn’t be too bad of a suggestion for O’Brien himself. However, what do you think.
