What Do West Bromwich Albion Do After The David Brooks Saga?

AFC Bournemouth winger David Brooks looked all but set to complete his move to West Brom , as reported a few days ago by The Lower Tiers. However, since then, despite completing a medical, the Welshman’s move to The Hawthorns now seems to be completely off.

Brooks was set to be a statement signing for new boss Mason at WBA, but, despite completing a medical with the Black Country side, it seems as if the Wales international has suddenly had his head turned by an opportunity from another club, which hasn’t been named.

David Brooks Transfer Situation A Big Disappointment

With The Albion seemingly on track to sign Brooks, plans could have already been in place as to how the winger would be integrated into West Brom’s system under Ryan Mason.

As the deal was in the final stages before completion, it will come as a huge surprise to West Brom that they are suddenly going to miss out on this transfer.

Brooks looked to be the perfect fit for WBA, with a fantastic set of attributes to bring to the table, but as he looks at another opportunity, Mason and his side now need to consider other options.

What Avenue Do West Brom Take Next?

Of course, as like any new boss, West Brom will be desperate to boost Ryan Mason in bolstering his attacking threats.

However, as the David Brooks deal looks to be off, suddenly the Black Country side need to start considering other options that could fit the same style as the Bournemouth man.

Tyrhys Dolan, formerly of Blackburn, could be a fantastic shout, with his contract officially expired, it wouldn’t cost WBA anywhere near as much as a permanent deal from another side would, and the quality levels would still be of a more than acceptable standard.

Anis Mehmeti, formerly of Bristol City, could be another option, although his age could be of worry for West Brom, with Mason possibly looking at a slightly younger breed of players to really strengthen The Albion side this summer.

Despite that, the goal-scoring records and other attributes that the Albanian would bring could make him a sensible suitor for WBA.

Despite this, nobody can say whether West Brom will even go searching for another winger just yet, but with Brooks being a long-term target it seems likely they’ll plunge into the market. Who they go for is a different debate, with just two of many options picked out in this article.

How do you feel about this transfer situation, and who should West Brom target now?
