West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal for Brann forward, Aune Selland Heggebø.
The deal will reportedly cost the Baggies £4.75 million, with the 23-year-old signing a four-year contract with the West Midlands club.
Who Is Aune Selland Heggebø?
In four and half seasons with the senior team at Brann, Heggebø has netted 47 times in 135 appearances.
Likened to his nation’s counterpart, Rasmus Højlund, the 23-year-old has the build of a target man, able to hold up the ball well but also has the pace to run in the channels and get behind defenders.
Not only does Heggebø come to England with the physical attributes, but he also brings his own skill, being equally gifted with both feet, and excellent at timing jumps in order to win aerial duels, be that to hold the ball up, or attack from set pieces.
Adding To West Bromwich Albion’s Squad
Heggebø would be the Baggies second signing of the summer, following Nat Phillips through the door at the Hawthorns.
New boss Ryan Mason is looking to add more versatility to his forward options whilst not compromising on the physicality he desires from a striker.
West Brom currently have Daryl Dike and Josh Maja within their ranks, but the former has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons and both players enter this campaign going into the final year of their contracts.
Heggebø will bring a similar profile as the clubs two current strikers but allows to club flexibility when it comes to choosing what to do about Dike and Maja.
As is often the case, it’s more than likely that the 23-year-old Norwegian will be Mason’s first choice up top when the season begins and with Maja netting 12 goals in the Championship last campaign, there could be a market to cash in on the Nigerian international.
Heggebø’s transfer to West Brom is expected to be announced in the coming days.
