Norwich City Close To Star Signing

Norwich City are set to beat European competition, most notably RC Lens, to the signing of Brøndby IF forward Mathias Kvistgaarden. The 23-year-old is believed to have chosen a move to The Canaries rather than the French side, as per Danish media outlet Tipsbladet.

They also report that although “the last hurdles must be cleared”, negotiations are at a very advanced stage, with all parties believing that a deal can be secured, which would bring an end to Kvistgaarden’s stay at his boyhood club, where he has played all of his senior football.

The report also states that it is a “major sale” as he would be set to join a club “which has top-level facilities” and are “comparable to the big Premier League clubs.

However, Norwich’s local media “The Pinkun” say that a deal is not yet struck, but the club being in pole position for Brøndby’s number 36

This move would also allow for an exit for last season’s top scorer Borja Sainz, whose departure is heavily expected this summer with teams such as FC Porto having bids rejected with the Spaniard having only twelve months left on his current contract.

What Does Mathias Kvistgaarden Bring?

Kvistgaarden has made great season-by-season progress at home in Denmark, having just enjoyed his best season, netting 17 times in the Superligaen last season, as he finished second in the goalscoring ranks in the division. He also has experience in European football, having netted twice in the Europa Conference League last season

Should the signing go through, it will be a real statement of intent as the Canaries prepare to mount a top 6 push for the upcoming season under Liam Manning, having already secured the signings of the likes of Harry Darling, Jakov Medic and Vladan Kovacevic among others. Certainly one to keep an eye on as it will at least be very close to Norwich’s club record fee for a record signing, which is currently held by Milot Rashica for around £10M
