Derby County have been busy in this summer’s transfer window. Therefore, we decided that it would be a good idea to rate each Derby County transfer this summer.
Carlton Morris – (undisclosed fee) from Luton Town
Derby County have struggled for a long time trying to find a striker capable of consistently hitting the back of the net and they might have found their man in the form of 29-year-old Carlton Morris.
Not too long ago he was scoring week in week out in the Premier League, after one dodgy season in the Championship that ended up with his Luton Town getting relegated his market value has sunk tremendously.
Despite all this there is a top-class player in their who with the right coaching and service can be a standout striker in this level and even potentially higher up.
Our Derby County Transfer Rating: 8/10
Danny Batth – (free) from Blackburn Rovers
Danny Batth is a highly rated EFL journeyman with a great CV and brings a lot of experience and knowhow into the squad.
John Eustace clearly trusts and rates him as he decided to bring him over from his former side despite the 35-year-old being one of Blackburn’s best performers last season with him even finding the net twice.
John Eustace is trying to build an experienced and elite environment in hopes of pushing derby as far up as he can get them, and Danny Batth certainly helps the cause.
Our Derby County Transfer Rating: 6/10
Andreas Weimann – (free) from Blackburn Rovers
The return of Andreas Weimann has certainly been met with open arms with the Austrian adding much needed firepower to Derby’s attack. Last season, Weimann found the net 7 times despite only starting 15 games.
As mentioned with Danny Batth, Eustace wants to build an experienced and elite environment and similarly to Batth, Weimann brings plenty of experience and talent to what was a lackluster attack last season.
The 32-year-old also has experience at Derby County with this being his second spell which properly aids his transition back to the Midlands.
Our Derby County Transfer Rating: 7/10
Richard O’Donnell – (free) from Blackpool FC
This transfer was certainly unexpected as the 35-year-old joins John Eustace’s side to provide depth and experience in the goalkeeping department.
Richard O’Donnell is the pure definition of journeyman as he has played for 15 different clubs in 22 seasons. He expectedly joined to fill in as third choice keeper or to provide a role like that of Scott Loach’s for The Rams.
Our Derby County Transfer Rating: 4/10
Patrick Agyemang- (£7.3 million) from Charlotte FC
Patrick Agyemang’s transfer saga felt like it was going on for years so for Derby to get it over the line in the end was a huge relief, the American international has certainly impressed as the likes of Pochettino and Tim Howard openly speak very highly of him and honestly there’s no denying the talent and potential that Agyemang has.
The 23-year-old defied ex-manager Dean Smith’s advice and signed for the East-Midlands outfit. The Rams have been crying out for some young talent for some time as well as some firepower in attack and they certainly have got both in the form of Agyemang.
With proper coaching and guidance, the youngster could go very far in the game, the sky’s the limit for this talent. There is no doubt that if anyone can reap the best from Patrick Agyemang it is John Eustace with this highly ambitious transfer certainly signalling a growing ambition for the Rams to push higher and higher on the back of last season’s narrow survival.
Our Derby County Transfer Rating: 9/10 – definitely one to watch.
