Five Pre-Season Fixtures Featuring Championship Teams To Look Out For

The EFL Championship season is quickly approaching with all sides looking to improve on their performances last season. Ahead of the season, the 24 sides in the English second tier have been participating in pre-season fixtures to tweak their squads and test concepts. Here are the top five fixtures featuring EFL Championship sides today.

Preston North End vs Bolton Wanderers

Preston North End take on local rivals Bolton Wanderers in a pre-season friendly at
The Toughsheet Community Stadium today. The Lilywhites have been
given an extra allocated 500 tickets for the away clash as their original allocation of 1,583 tickets
quickly sold out. There are no sales on the day.

Birmingham City vs Port Vale

Birmingham City are also staying local within The Midlands as they travel the short
hours journey to Port Vale FC. The Bluenoses have recently signed defender Eiran
Cashin on a season long loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
He will be hoping to make his debut in the club’s newly released away kit.

Charlton Athletic vs Cambridge United

Charlton Athletic will play Cambridge United away at a 3pm kick-off. The journey is
just under an hour and 30 minutes away and the club has just beat Wealdstone FC
in a 3-0 friendly.

Derby County vs Burton Albion

Derby County are due to play Burton Albion at 3pm. Derby will make the
short 23 minute, 12 mile journey away to Burton-on-Trent to play against the League
One side.

County have recently completed their sixth signing of the summer
transfer window through the signing of of Owen Beck.

Beck was on-loan at Blackburn Rovers last season.

Ipswich Town vs Rangers

Finally, Ipswich Town will brave the long journey from East Anglia all the way up to Scotland
to face Rangers in the pre-season friendly. Newly relegated Ipswich Town have
played in Scotland already this week through playing against Aberdeen. Therefore, they
hope to make it a double win up in the Highlands.
