Hull City To Sign Premier League Midfielder On Loan

According to Baz Cooper on X this morning, Hull City are set to bring in Leeds United central midfielder Darko Gyabi on loan, which would be his third consecutive loan spell in the Championship, following back-to-back loan spells at Plymouth Argyle.

Hull are looking for some reinforcements throughout the squad, as they aim to climb the Championship table under new manager Sergej Jakirovic.

Hull haven’t particularly broken the bank for transfers this summer, relying mostly on free transfers and loans, and the addition of Darko Gyabi will be The Tigers fourth loan signing of the summer, alongside John Lundstram, Joe Gelhardt and Joel Ndala.

They were without a first-team central midfielder on the bench on Saturday, and it was evident during their heavy defeat to Bristol City, due to injury problems keeping Matt Crooks and Elliot Matozo out of action for a decent spell.

Who Is Darko Gyabi And What Will He Bring To Hull City?

Gyabi developed through the youth ranks at Premier Leeague side Manchester City, before making the switch to Yorkshire, linking up with Leeds United’s under 21s, where he instantly broke into the first team, featuring one three occasions during the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Premier League.

His second season he found appearances limited, often as an unused substitute as Leeds were back in the Championship after a short spell in the Premier League, so ultimately joined struggling Championship side Plymouth Argyle.

He featured on 10 occasions for Argyle, but impressed enough to earn himself another year long loan spell in Devon, however this time as a regular starter, getting game time in 43 out of the possible 46 Championship fixtures last term, where Plymouth ultimately struggled to find their feet, despite a late resurgence under Miran Muslic, ending up finishing at the foot of the Championship.

Despite the club’s poor season overall, Gyabi is still a highly respected young prospect, and will likely flourish once his move to Hull City is confirmed.
