According to Pete O’Rourke on X, Bolton Wanderers have rejected bids from fellow League One sides Luton Town and Wycombe Wanderers for centre midfielder Aaron Morley.
This comes as Bolton prepare to finalise their summer transfer window business, having confirmed the signing of winger Marcus Forss from Middlesbrough on loan, originally revealed as a Lower Tiers exclusive, on deadline day today.
He has made five appearances for The Trotters so far this season in all competitions, three of which were starts, and spent the first half of last season at Wycombe Wanderers, who want him to return to Adams Park today. Bolton then recalled him mid-season as he played a strong part in the Chairboys’ rise to the top of the League one table, making 23 appearances during his temporary spell there.
Recently relegated Luton under manager Matt Bloomfield, who managed Morley at Wycombe, are also interested in the 25-year-old and are hoping to return to the Championship after back-to-back relegations in the previous two seasons after an incredible rise to the Premier League. The Hatters have had a reasonably quiet transfer window, with four players signing and a few of the squad from the Premier League season in 2023/24 departing alongside Thelo Aasgaard, who departed for Rangers
Who is Aaron Morley?
Aaron Morley spent his youth career at Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers before eventually coming through the youth academy at Rochdale, making 121 appearances for The Dale before making a return to Wanderers in January 2022 after many years at Rochdale. The transfer fee was reported as undisclosed, but rumoured to be around £100,000. In his first two and a half seasons at the club, he made 121 appearances. However, he was loaned out by Bolton to join Wycombe Wanderers in the early stages of last season.
Final thoughts
Whether more bids will come in remains unclear, but there could be a possibility that Aaron Morley could be a Wycombe or Luton player at 7pm tonight, with his Bolton future uncertain.
