Birmingham City Set To Sign Premier League Winger As Main Target Deal Collapses

According to Sky Sports News and EFL Published on X, Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts is set to make the move south to join Birmingham City on a season long loan deal. Birmingham have already been active in the markets today and throughout the whole transfer windows but have missed out on a couple of targets so far today, and Patrick Robers seems to be their final addition, as he has already been spotted by supporters wearing Birmingham gear, following Celtic winger Yang Hyun-Jang’s deal collapse earlier today.

Patrick Roberts To Birmingham City?

Patrick Roberts has been frozen out of the starting eleven since Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland’s promotion thanks to their Wembley success over Sheffield United, and has only spent 27 minutes on the pitch in the Premier League, coming off the bench for Chemsdine Talbi in their heavy defeat to Burnley, but did feature for the full 90 minutes against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup.

This new addition for Birmingham will provide necessary depth on their wings, required in any successful Championship side, which Birmingham aspire to be, competing with Keshi Anderson, Demarai Gray, Lewis Koumas and Willum Willumsson who have featured out wide thus far this campaign for The Blues.

Birmingham have gotten off to an impressive start since their revitalised atmosphere surrounding the club following their takeover, kicking things off with a draw against freshly relegated Ipswich Town, before winning back to back Championship games over Oxford United and Blackburn Rovers. A loss last Saturday against yet another relegated side in Leicester City did slightly dampen spirits after quite an uninspiring performance, contrasting recent performances, but Birmingham City still seem on the up, sitting 10th in the Championship and finally playing in front of packed-out crowds at St Andrew’s after what felt like a long period of misery for The Blues.
