Wrexham have made two bids to Blackburn Rovers for experienced defender, Dominic Hyam. Hyam who has only one year left of his contract at the club has been subject to speculation on his future with reported interest from Watford earlier in the transfer window, but nothing materialised from Watford’s end.
Wrexham Agree Fee
Wrexham and Blackburn Rovers have agreed a fee of around £2.7 million for Dominic Hyam. Hyam is a well-liked individual amongst the fanbase, and I know this news is going to be a big shock to many fans especially as this leaves Rovers with only Scott Wharton, Hayden Carter, and Sean McLoughlin as their only options as centre backs.
Hyam was signed from Coventry City on 28th August 2022 for a reported fee of £2.5 million with add ons that could rise to £3 million. Hyam continues to be a fan favourite including winning Rovers Player of the Year in the 2022/23 season.
Hyam is a versatile individual and played every minute of the championship last season. it is the writing on the wall with the sad situation the club finds itself in with selling experience players with players that have not had the chance to prove their footballing ability in this league.
Hyam is going to be a big miss for Rovers and continues to raise questions about why players at an alarming rate are jumping ship and not wanting to commit their future to the club.
Naturally, players come and go but, in a year, where Blackburn Rovers should be celebrating their 150th Anniversary on 8th November, there does not seem to be much celebrated with an even more frustrated fan base and no understanding of what is happening behind the scenes. Let us hope Blackburn do not end up in League One.
