Bradford City News: Where Could Tyler Smith Go Next?

Bradford City striker Tyler Smith has departed the club by mutual consent.

Earlier in the summer transfer window, the Bantams boss Graham Alexander confirmed that first team trio of Tyler Smith, Adam Wilson, and Clarke Odour, who has most recently joined Grimsby Town on loan, which was an exclusive by The Lower Tiers, are not in his plans for the future, so they are free to leave.

Especially with Alexander stating that squad numbers are nearly at maximum following the 10 new additions the Valley Parade outfit has made so far, after their last gasp promotion to League One on the last day of the season. These signings have been proven to be successful for the side, with them being unbeaten in the League and Cup so far this season.

About Tyler Smith And Why He Didn’t Fit At Bradford City

Smith is a hard working striker who likes to make runs in behind the defence using his pace and likes to play off the shoulder of the last defender.

The Englishman joined the Bantams in the summer of the 2023/24 season when the club was managed by current Carlisle United boss Mark Hughes. After having an underwhelming spell at Oxford United in League One, with him only making seven appearances and did not register a single goal.

However, within his first season with the Valley Parade outfit, Smith proved himself in League Two with him netting 12 goals and picking up one assist in 47 appearances in the 23/24 season.

Following the sacking of Mark Hughes in the 23/24 season, the new and current boss Graham Alexander did not fancy Smith as he fell out of favour with him, only making 7 appearances in the first half of the season.

With the former Oxford man receiving limited game time in the first half of last season’s campaign, Smith went out on loan to Barrow and managed to score 5 goals in 21 appearances.

A Good Signing?

The signing of Tyler Smith has the potential to be brilliant for a League Two club as he brings EFL League Two experience, and he is a proven goal scorer. However, with Tyler Smith mostly excelling in a front two, could a club get the best out of him? Comment your thoughts down below.
