Championship: Gameweek Seven Predictions
Amar’s Prediction
I’m really happy for Sheffield Wednesday, getting their first win of the season. I shouldn’t be shocked, of course they’ll win games this season but it was still surprising.
I do think Wednesday will struggle against this in form QPR team, however, as the Rs look to make it four on the bounce.
There’s a real sense of optimism around Loftus Road at the moment and I think the good run will continue. Kone to score, obviously.
Amar’s Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 QPR
Dylan’s Prediction
Stoke City welcome Norwich City to the Bet365 Stadium as pressure on canaries boss Liam Manning increases following a fourth straight home defeat last weekend at the hands of Wrexham.
Stoke City have made themselves an early-season surprise promotion contender under ex-canary Mark Robins, having won four out of six of their opening games this season, losing last time out away at QPR.
However, with Norwich’s home struggles this season, I can see it carrying over to their away form, and with Stoke’s good start to the season.
I can only see one outcome here, although many canaries fans, myself included, would have said the same thing a couple of weeks ago against Coventry.
Dylan’s prediction: Stoke City 2-0 Norwich City
Hannah’s Prediction
Ipswich Town welcome Portsmouth to Portman Road on Saturday, September 27th, in a Championship fixture that could prove pivotal for both sides.
Ipswich, still adjusting to life back in the second tier, has shown flashes of attacking intent but remains inconsistent against well-drilled opposition.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, arrive with a compact setup and a reputation for grinding out results on the road.
Expect a cagey affair, with both teams likely to prioritise structure over risk. The stats suggest a low-scoring contest, and while Portsmouth are tipped for a narrow win, confidence in that outcome is low
Hannah’s Prediction: Ipswich Town 2-1 Portsmouth
Jenson’s Prediction
On Saturday, we see two teams who have both enjoyed fantastic starts meet at Deepdale.
A 3rd Placed Bristol City travel up north to take on Preston of 5th, a game that looks like it’ll be incredible on paper.
Bristol City travel to the northern corners of England after defeat against Oxford, but before that they did collect six points in their prior two games.
Preston come into the game unbeaten in their last two, drawing against Championship league-leaders Middlesbrough and then a narrow win over Derby last weekend. With both sides having such a brilliant start, I expect a really eventful game, but I do see Preston scraping this especially with such a good home start.
Jenson’s Prediction: Preston North End 3-2 Bristol City
Luke’s Prediction
Swansea City host Millwall in a fixture that sees eleventh and tenth in the Championship currently meet.
The Swans, who have picked up two wins this season, sit on eight points with Millwall sitting just above them on ten points.
In this fixture last season, the Lions completed a league double with two consecutive 1-0 victories.
But, Swansea will arguably be looking for revenge.
Considering the low scoring pattern of this fixture, I can see this game not having many goals but I can see City just edging it.
