Charlton Athletic fought hard away at Pride Park this evening leaving Derby County with a point a piece, however it does see the Addicks rise to 5th and enter the playoff places.
James Bree scored what can only be described as a thunderbolt as he volleyed home form just inside the area in the 37th minute.
Next up for Nathan Jones’ men is Preston North End at Deepdale, where they will be looking to come away with the same or even more fortune as the Addicks search to continue their strong start to the campaign.
“It’s a good point on the road, as in any point at this level,” said Jones.
“I thought we created well, but we needed a bit more composure,
“They were the better team in the second half, so I think we weathered the storm a little bit,” claimed the Charlton boss.
Derby showed their physical capabilities throughout the game, with the likes of Carlton Morris and Patrick Agyemang, and they caused some issues for the Charlton defence; that being said it would be Matt Clarke who made the difference as his header was the one that drew the home side level.
“They’ve got size, they’ve got physicality,
“Look at the front two, I signed Carlton Morris and he’s the best I ever worked with (in terms of physicality),” he said.
James Bree’s strike will take the headline, and what a goal it was, calm and composed before hitting it so cleanly into the top corner.
“The goal is a wonderful goal,” said the 52 year-old.
