Peterborough United Team News
Darren Ferguson’s side bounced back from a 3-0 league defeat to Lincoln City with a win in the Vertu Trophy but pressure is mounting on the manager, with Chairman Darragh MacAnthony demanding improvement.
“Fair play to Lincoln who are a well-coached, strong team in great form, but we shouldn’t be losing 3-0 at home to anyone in League One. No disrespect to Lincoln, but we made them look like Birmingham City from last season and they didn’t beat us 3-0 at home.”
“We have been crap at home for over a year now and that’s what’s wound me up the most. At home is where you build your form and your attendances, but we will lose attendances playing like this. We had a crowd in on Saturday after two good performances and they would have expected another good one, but we delivered the opposite.” via The Hard Truth.
Elsewhere, forward Kyrell Lisbie could be in contention for a start after a hattrick in midweek alongside Jimmy Jay-Morgan, who also scored, impressing boss Ferguson with his performance. Youngster James Dornelly claimed a hattrick of assists in the game, against Aston Villa’s U21’s and could also be involved on Saturday.
Possible Lineup
Alex Bass (GK), Thomas O’Connor, George Nevett, Tom Lees, Carl Johnston, Brandon Khela, Archi Collins, Matthew Garbett, Peter Kioso, Kyrell Lisbie, Abraham Odoh
Bolton Wanderers vs Peterborough United Prediction
Both teams have been incredibly inconsistent this season but Bolton’s home form speaks for itself. Peterborough have continued as they did last season and have failed to impress anyone as of yet, this trip up north could continue that trend if the Wanderers click early on.
For Schumacher’s Trotter’s this game presents another opportunity to not only cement their home ground as a fortress but show that this team can do the hard yards and beat teams that the form book doesn’t favour. It’s these games that will matter come May if this side truly has ambitions of promotion.
Ferguson and co will be expecting a response in the league but can the Whites come out in the same fashion as they did against Wigan, it could be a long afternoon for the Posh.
Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 3-1 Peterborough United
