FM26 Save ideas: Football Manager 26 is finally here. After two years of waiting, Sports Interactive is set to release the game’s early access on Thursday, 23rd October, for the newest instalment in the franchise, which spans back to Championship Manager over thirty years ago.
From League Two to the Championship, there are 72 EFL clubs to choose from. Whether you want to take your local club to the Premier League or avoid relegation at a side in peril, there are all sorts of clubs you can instil your ideas at.
With plenty of EFL clubs in need of rebuilding, why not go for it and immerse yourself in some of these save ideas to kickstart FM26!?
FM26 Save Ideas: Reading
Reading are finally free from the detrimental ownership of Dai Yongge, and Royals fans can look forward in hope, as every football fan should be able to.
Now under the ownership of Rob Couhig, they’ll be vying for retribution.
But in League One, The Ding have won just two of their first twelve games and sit in the drop zone. Another relegation would be a tragedy for a club of their size. Can you turn their fortunes around?
Difficulty Rating – 3/5
FM26 Save Ideas: Luton Town
At this point in time, two years ago, Luton Town were competing in the Premier League after a dramatic play-off win that took them to the promised land of English football.
Since then, two relegations in the following two seasons have sent the Hatters down to League One, now sitting in a miserable mid-table position.
In response to the poor start, manager Matt Bloomfield was sacked and replaced by Jack Wilshere for his first managerial role. Could you take part in your first managerial job and take the Hatters back up? You’ll have the backing and parachute payments to do so!
Difficulty Rating – 2/5
FM26 Save Ideas: Salford City
Salford City have recently announced that they’re reverting to the old orange club colours, in a move that 77% of fans voted for.
A club that has struggled to push on further than League Two, despite big investment from the ‘Class of 92’, it’s time for a manager to take the lead and get them further up the leagues.
Could you beat rivals Manchester City? Despite Manchester United being allies of the club, could you shock the world and beat them, too? Anything’s possible with the right set of tactics!
Difficulty Rating – 4/5
FM26 Save Ideas: Plymouth Argyle
A club seemingly so well run until Steven Schumacher left, Plymouth Argyle are back in League One after a disappointing Championship relegation.
A slow start has left the club in 20th place after twelve matches, with fans left unhappy from a poor transfer window where key players who exited weren’t replaced.
Young manager Tom Cleverley is currently at the wheel, but can you take charge and get Plymouth Argyle back up to the Championship at the first time of asking? You’ll have the funds behind you to attempt it!
Difficulty Rating – 3/5
FM26 Save Ideas: Sheffield Wednesday
Perhaps the most difficult save for you to take charge of, you won’t receive any financial backing under Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership at Sheffield Wednesday.
On a shoestring budget, you’ll have to beat the odds and keep the Owls in the Championship, and then look to build a squad from free transfers alone. Oh, and you’ll likely face several points deductions and transfer embargoes along the way!
This is the sad reality for Sheffield Wednesday fans at the moment, facing the darkest moment in their famous history. They need a hero, could it be you in the world of FM26?
Difficulty Rating – 5/5
With the newest Football Manager releasing imminently, no team is beyond the realms of possibility.
Whether you want to start as yourself, without any coaching badges or experience, or to explore the life of an ex-England international leaping into management, it’s all doable in FM.
Who will be the first EFL side you’ll be taking charge of when the early-access drops?
