Following FA Cup action last weekend, this weekend sees the whole of EFL League One return to normal action in the league, with all sides looking to climb up the table and improve or continue the form they have built up so far this season.
Now, with a new League One game week commencing on Saturday, AI has predicted the best five games in the division this weekend, and we have rated the predictions.
Let’s see what AI predicted and we rated below.
Exeter City 1 – 2 Wigan Athletic
Rating 5/10
Exeter are currently on a good three game unbeaten run, with their latest victory coming against Halifax Town in the Fa Cup last weekend. However, within the League, the Devon based side is struggling with them, currently sitting 18th on 16 points.
However, with Wigan being 14th on 17 points, which is one point in front of Exeter, this will be a tight contest, especially with Wigan looking to return to winning ways after their 1-1 draw against Mansfield in their latest league match.
So we have chosen to rate the AI’s prediction a 5/10 due to Exeter being on a good run of form and them looking to extend that.
Doncaster Rovers 1 – 2 Barnsley
Rating 7/10
Doncaster have picked up only two points throughout the entire all of October within the League, they currently sit 13th on 18 points. In their latest match, they picked up a narrow 2-1 victory against Crewe in the FA Cup.
Barnsley currently sit 11th on 18 points, so this is destined to be a close match with the Tykes looking to return to winning ways after their 1-0 defeat against Rotherham last time out in the league.
In our opinion, we think that Barnsley I going to narrowly take the three points with Barnsley’s away form being good as they sit 10th on 8 points in the away table. So we have decided to rate AI’s prediction 7/10.
Stockport County 0–2 Luton Town
Rating 4/10
Stockport hosts Luton Town this weekend, with the home side on a good run of form with their latest 3-0 victory against Luton Town. The Hatters currently sit top of the League on 28 points.
Luton, under new manager Jack Wilshere, are on a good run of form in the League and cup as well, with them being unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions. The London-based side currently sits 10th on 19 points.
We are going to give AI’s prediction a 4/10 rating as we think Stockport are going to take all three points in this one, which would see the opposition’s unbeaten run end. However, this game could go either way.
Rotherham United 1–1 Lincoln City
Rating 9/10
Rotherham, who were one of the relegation favourites at the start of the season, have turned their form around in recent weeks and are climbing up the table, with them sitting 12th on 18 points.
With Lincoln, it could be argued that they were one of the unexpected candidates for promotion this season they are positioned 5th in the table on 25 points after playing 14 games.
Due to Rotherham drawing 2-2 against Burton in their last match in the League and Lincoln drawing 0-0 against Bradford, both sides will be looking to pick up three points in this one. With this being a tight contest, we agree with the AI’s prediction of 1-1, so we have given a 9/10 rating.
Wycombe Wanderers 2–1 Leyton Orient
Rating 7/10
Wycombe, who had a poor start to the season under Mike Dodds, have turned their form around since Michael Duff joining the club in September. They sit 17th in the league on 16 points.
Leyton Orient, who lost in the playoffs last season, currently sit 15th in the league on 17 points. Some could argue that they have struggled to replicate last season’s form so far this season.
In our opinion, we think that Michael Duff’s side will edge this tie over the O’s and build on their 3-0 win over Huddersfield last time out in the league. Due to this, we have rated AI’s prediction a 7/10.
