Carlton Morris has been integral to Derby County turning their season around recently. The Rams had won their last five games in a row going into last weekend.
It looked as though their winning streak would continue as they went 2-0 up against Watford on Saturday.
But it wasn’t to be, as Watford would pull off a sensational comeback and leave 3-2 winners.
To make matters worse, Morris was forced off with a knee injury after only 18 minutes.
It’s currently unknown how long he will be out for, but John Eustace did say that it “doesn’t look good.”
There have even been rumours circulating that Morris had suffered an ACL injury.
But some are now claiming that this is not the case so we will have to wait and see.
Who Do Derby County Turn To?
As previously mentioned, Derby did find themselves two goals up against Watford without Morris.
However, both goals came from central defenders.
On the one hand, this shows that they aren’t completely reliant on their number nine for goals.
On the other hand, it is worrying that their forwards failed to find the net yet again.
Patrick Agyemang is the club’s second top goal scorer with two goals.
Whilst fellow forwards Ben Brereton Diaz, Andreas Weimann and Rhian Brewster only have one goal each to their names.
Weimann replaced Morris at the weekend so it’s logical to assume that the Austrian will start tonight against Swansea City.
Looking Ahead Without Carlton Morris
Swansea have been very disappointing so far this season, finding themselves 20th in the Championship table.
But their players will be keen to impress new boss Vitor Matos.
This, alongside Morris’s injury, make this clash highly unpredictable.
The following game sees Derby travel to the Riverside to take on Middlesborough.
Even with Morris, this would’ve been a very difficult fixture for Derby given Middlesborough’s fantastic start to the season.
The Championship table is currently very close, with only six points separating third from 17th.
If they don’t want to fall down the table, Derby need to prove that they are more than the Carlton Morris show.
