Injury Update Emerges On Key Norwich City Duo Ahead Of Southampton Clash

Norwich City are due to face Southampton at the weekend but, prior to this, injury updates have emerged on two key players.

Norwich City currently sit 23rd in the Championship following the opening 20 games of the season.

In this time, the Canaries have picked up 14 points but have won just three games and have lost 12 in that period as well.

Therefore, for City, the upcoming weeks and months will be arguably pivotal in deciding the short-term future of the club.

One factor that may impact the squad’s success is the availability of the squad.

Currently, Norwich have more than five players out of action including defender Jack Stacey, midfielder Liam Gibbs, and striker Gabriel Forsyth.

Furthermore, striker Josh Sargent and captain Kenny McLean also look to have picked up injuries in Tuesday’s draw with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The availability of these two players, especially, could be crucial in deciding the business that Norwich City do in the upcoming January transfer window.

Now, ahead of City’s game against Southampton, an injury update has emerged on the two.

Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk after the game on Tuesday, head coach Philippe Clement stated: “Sarge got a knock, we need to assess how it is with him.

“With Kenny, his hip locked in the first half, you saw it with the way he was running, it was not his normal style.

“We took him off at half-time to prevent that he got a bigger injury and we will see over the next few days if they will be ready for Saturday.

“Of course, I hope that (they will), otherwise it’s an opportunity for other players to get the opportunity and fight for the team to get the points.

“That’s a positive and negative but I am now three weeks here and I think everybody played already from the squad.”

With this injury update now received, City fans could turn towards Clement for further updates ahead of the game at the weekend.
