According to Sportsboom, Barrow AFC are eyeing Bradford City striker Andy Cook in a January move.
This comes following the striker making limited appearances upon his return from his ACL injury that he suffered on the first of January against Barrow last season.
The interest in the number nine also occurs with the striker being out of contract at the Bantams in the summer of 2026.
Now, it is considered that if the former Mansfield Town man joins the League Two side, he will most likely play in a starting role.
Therefore, here are a couple of things that both Barrow fans and EFL fans in general should expect from Cook.
A Clear Attacking Threat
If the SO Legal stadium outfit signs the 35-year-old, they will gain a player who possesses a clear attacking threat.
This judgment comes because he scored 12 goals in the EFL League Two last season. His statistics also show he made 63 shots, with 28 of these on target in only 29 appearances.
Furthermore, Cook had 111 touches in the opposition boxes during the 24/25 campaign.
These attacking statistics show the threat that the 35-year-old holds and the constant presence that he shows when facing opposition.
This could be especially useful during crossing situations and situations where the ball is played to him, which are common features of the Barrow gameplay.
This can be seen through the fact that Barrow had a successful cross rate of 22.7% which placed them 4th in the accurate crosses per match rankings.
Alongside this, the Bluebirds were able to create 79 big chances last season.
Experience
Through the Englishman’s career, we can see that the forward has a wealth of experience, which you can see in his gameplay.
During his time in EFL League Two, he was able to make 214 appearances, which included his time at Bradford City and Mansfield Town.
Furthermore, at the start of last season, before picking up his injury, he played a crucial role in the Bantams’ earning automatic promotion to League One.
Is Andy Cook A Good Fit For Barrow?
With these factors being considered, Cook arguably will be a great addition for the Bluebirds in January as they look to climb the table and avoid relegation.
