The Lower Tiers understands that Championship side Derby County and League One club Leyton Orient are fighting it out for the signature of Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe on loan.
26-year-old Balcombe is yet to make his senior debut for the Bees, but he has had several loans with the likes of Boreham Wood, Viborg, Doncaster Rovers, Bromley Crawley Town, Bristol Rovers, St Mirren and Motherwell.
Ellery Balcombe appeared for Doncaster Rovers 17 times in all competitions. During his stay in West Yorkshire, Balcombe gained five clean sheets.
He returned to Brentford to celebrations as the Bees had been promoted to the Premier League.
During the 2022/23 season, Balcombe had spells with Crawley and Bristol Rovers in Leagues One and wo respectively. In 19 games, Balcombe would gain another five clean sheets.
Whilst in Scotland, the keeper made 33 outings, gaining three more clean sheets to add to his tally with the Scottish Premier League duo.
The Rams look to be looking at several names today and are very active in the transfer market as they look to add to their squad. In the goalkeeping ranks though, they already boast Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, Josh Vickers and Richard O’Donnell.
Vickers has been struggling with a finger injury though so may be out for an undetermined amount of time.
County are flying and following the 5-0 triumph over Bristol City on Friday, they find themselves just two points outside the playoffs.
Orient have struggled since the recall of Tommy Simkin, as Killian Cahill looks to make his mark on the number one jersey. In 21 games, Cahill has managed just four clean sheets.
Orient have been struggling for form recently and find themselves a single point outside the relegation places.
Richie Wellens side have just signed Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann on loan though.
This will be a fun one to watch to see just where Balcombe goes.
