Five Strikers Luton Town Should Sign This Summer

Newly relegated EFL League One side Luton Town have commenced their business in the summer transfer window with, showing intent to the rest of League One and aiming to recruit experience.

They have signed centre back Kal Naismith on a permanent deal from Bristol City after impressing at the Hatters last season.

Alongside this, they have signed previous League One winner and midfielder George Saville from Millwall.

Why Do Luton Town Need More Strikers?

In the 2024/25 campaign, Luton had one of the main goal threats in Carlton Morris with the striker netting eight times and picking up two assists. The Englishman will be a massive loss for the Hatters following his move to Derby County.

As well as this, another prolific striker last season, and fellow striker Millenic Ali, who netted four times for Luton in the second half of the campaign. He is being chased by several EFL Championship clubs for his signature.

These two combined will have a huge impact on Luton, as they are losing two strikers who were prolific in front of goal in a difficult season for the Hatters.

Manager Matt Bloomfield will know that he will need to recruit two strikers in order to replace Morris and Ali. As well as to replace the goal threats that they are losing. Another reason is that Luton will have to look to consolidate in League One following their relegation.

Nahki Wells

Our first striker on the list, who is set to leave Bristol City when his contract expires, is Bermuda striker Nahki Wells. He played in the championship in the 24/25 campaign.

Wells, during last season, netted 10 goals and assisted four times whilst playing 39 matches.

At 35, the Bermudian international holds a wealth of experience across several leagues in England.

Furthermore, he is more than capable of delivering in EFL League One, which would highly impact Luton’s rise back to the EFL Championship. This is because Wells would bring a brilliant goal-scoring threat to their side.

This move would be possible as Luton Town hold parachute payments, which would be able to pay for his arguably big Championship wage.

Dale Taylor

The second striker on our list is a recent Wigan Athletic loanee, Dale Taylor, who played in EFL League One in the 24/25 campaign.

Taylor could be a good option for the Hatters to pursue this summer, with him proving himself to Matt Bloomfield when they were both at Wycombe.

In the 2024/25 campaign, in 47 appearances, the Nottingham Forest loanee was able to net 11 times and assist seven times.

The 21-year-old holds experience in EFL League One, with him having spells at Wigan, Wycombe, and Burton.

Furthermore, as we saw last season, he has the ability to deliver in League One. Therefore, another loan move will improve and develop him further, especially at the Hatters, who are looking to bounce back to the Championship next season.

Rob Street

The third option on our list is with current Lincoln City striker Rob Street, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Doncaster Rovers. Whilst at Rovers, he netted 12 times in 22 appearances for the side, which contributed to them winning the League Two title.

This showed that Street has the potential and ability to play at a higher level. This is something he could do at Luton where the Lincoln City man could explore his potential further.

If this move were to happen, it would require Luton to pay a big fee for the 23-year-old striker. This is something they could do with their parachute payments from being relegated from the Premier League.

Furthermore, the Englishman could further develop his skills and experience at Luton. This is because he will have experienced attackers and midfielders around him in the form of Jacob Brown, Elijah Adebayo, and recent signing George Saville.

Ronan Hale

The penultimate striker on our list who has had interest from Luton is Ross County striker Ronan Hale.

Last season, the Northern Irish international netted 18 times in all competitions whilst in a struggling Ross County side.

The 26-year-old is entering the prime years of his career, so this will give him the potential to develop even further and become an overall better striker at the Hatters.

However, the striker throughout his career has not had any experience within the EFL, so fans could argue whether he can make the step up to the EFL and bring his attributes to the EFL League One side.

Nathan Lowe

The final striker on our list who has also had interest from several clubs in EFL League One, which includes Luton. It is in the form of current Stoke striker Nathan Lowe.

Lowe spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Walsall, where he impressed. With the 19-year-old netted 15 times and assisted 5 times. This shows the Stoke man’s high shooting quality. As well as this, it shows that he is a constant threat and one to look out for in each game. This is an essential quality Luton require going into the 2025/26 campaign.

Lowe’s performances were impressive coming in EFL League Two last season. This probes the question of whether Lowe could step up into a division that is more competitive, more intense, and of an increased difficulty. Or would he fail to replicate performances that he displayed during his short spell at Walsall?
