Salford City defender Haji Mnoga is allegedly being pursued by League One side Lincoln City, according to Alan Nixon on his βXβ account.
It has been speculated that the Imps have already had two bids rejected for the 23 year old utility man. The midfielder has also played at right back, right midfield and also centre back for his current club.
With Mnoga being under contract until 2026 this would require a fee, but this shouldnβt be too high with just one year remaining on his current deal. The Tanzanian played 39 games for the Ammies last season, scoring one goal and gaining four assists.
Who Is Haji Mnoga?
Prior to joining Salford, Mnoga played for Portsmouth and Aldershot, albeit he was not a mainstay at Pompey making just 18 appearances, according to Sofascore. His next venture at Aldershot, albeit on loan, would prove to be much more fruitful playing 34 times for the Shots. It was this sort of consistency that caught the eye of the Ammies, whom he joined last summer.
The Tanzanian has also appeared for Gillingham, Weymouth and Bromley and at just 23 years of age as well there is the potential for the youngster to develop even further under the correct guidance.
Do The Imps Need Him?
The Imps have been pretty quiet this summer transfer window, signing only Sonny Bradley and losing a number of players including Sean Roughan, Paudie OβConnor and Zak Bradshaw to name but a few.
This move would also match their model of signing young talented players, with a view to moving them on for a profit later on in their career, similar to the model Peterborough United used.
Whilst this would be a shock, itβs one that could well happen, especially with Mnoga being a utility man! Surely at some point though Lincoln City will need to sign a left back or two?
