Burnley Join Race For EFL Championship Megastar

Norwich City’s Josh Sargent is attracting interest from several clubs in Europe’s top five leagues, with now Premier League side Burnley joining the conversations for the USA international.

The 25-year-old netted 15 times last season, alongside five assists. His performance’s have had him touted for a move up in the divisions for some time, with Lower Tiers picking him as a player that is ready for the Premier League.

Whilst Leeds United have remained interested in the player for most of the current window, it now appears that Burnley, alongside German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, have registered their attention in the player.

Ironically for Leeds, Wolfsburg’s interest is spurned off the loss of forward Lukas Nmecha, who has just joined the West Yorkshire side.

Sargent has played in Germany before, with Werder Bremen but has since morphed into more of an attacking focal point since his move to England.

Unfortunately for all of the 25-year-olds potential suitors, Sargent is under contract until 2028, and new boss Liam Manning is keen to make the player his No. 1 attacker in his starting XI.

Norwich finished 13th last season, ten points off the playoffs. Whilst business this summer has been positive, with the addition of Manning, who guided Bristol City to the playoffs, there is nothing to say that the Canaries can actually push on.

The club are likely to lose superstar Borja Sainz this summer and the only true bargaining chip they have to keep Sargent, is his long contract making his valuation high.

The American has made it a priority to make next summers USA squad for the World Cup, whilst at Norwich he will know he can score, a move to a level up would surely help cement that place in Mauricio Pochetino’s side.
