The Lower Tiers understands that a number of Championship and top-end League One clubs are showing interest in Bradford City defender Lewis Richards.
The 23-year-old has been offered a new deal by Bradford City due to his initial two-year-contract expiring this summer but it appears that he may now have a decision on his hands.
Before moving to Wolves in 2016, the former Republic of Ireland youth player began his career at Brentford.
He progressed through the Midlands team’s program and made nine appearances for their first squad as a young player.
Before Bradford City approached him permanently in 2023, he had previously been on loan from Harrogate Town twice.
Now, he could be on the move again after impressing at Valley Parade.
Since joining from Wolves as cover for left-wing-back, Richards has broken into the team and made himself their first choice after a series of impressive performances.
However, a recurring shoulder injury ruled him out for the season in March as the club felt it was best to operate on it sooner rather than later.
Bradford City boss, Graham Alexander said, as per a report by The Telegraph & Argus: “We were planning on maybe getting to the summer but because of this injury – and he feels for his own benefit in the future – it’s important to get that done now.
“That will be his season done if we’re being realistic. It’s a blow for Lewis and for us because he’s played a big part.”
The arrival of Tayo Adaramola on loan from Crystal Palace gave City the room to do this after he quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his pace and relentless willpower to get up and down the left flank.
Before being ruled out for the rest of the season, Lewis Richards made 22 appearances in League Two and helped towards their push for promotion with 3 goal contributions.
