How Could Lincoln City Line Up Next Season?

A potential Lincoln City Lineup for next season.

Lincoln City will be looking for a successful season again following the last two seasons, narrowly missing out on the playoffs in the 23/24 season by just two points and then finishing 11th this season.

This coming campaign the Imps will be looking to finish even higher, although the playoffs may be a stretch unless the left back gap is filled by a brilliant new signing.

With this being said, let’s go through a potential Lincoln City lineup for next season….

Goalkeeper: George Wickens

Wickens played much of last season only missing a few games due to circumstances and being replaced by Zach Jeacock.

The 23 year old is definitely solidifying his place as the number one at the LNER stadium, managing 10 clean sheets in 36 games following his move from Premier League side Fulham.

Right back: Tendayi Darikwa

Experienced Darikwa has just been named as the successor to Paudie O’Connor as the new Lincoln City captain.

Expect Tendayi to be one of the first names on the teamsheet with his solid performances and as mentioned already, his experience.

Centre back: Sonny Bradley

Speaking of O’Connor, Sonny Bradley is the replacement centre back for the Imps.

Previously of Luton, Derby County and Wycombe, the 33 year old is a solid option but will be pushed all the way by Adam Jackson and Ben Hamer for his place in the team.

Centre back: Ryley Towler

Much of the success Lincoln had last season came from set pieces and corners and with his height, Towler will be in the mix to get a few goals for his new club.

He’s also solid at the back and has been signed for an undisclosed fee with high expectations.

Left back: ???

At present with the departures of Sean Roughan and Zak Bradshaw, the Imps don’t have a left back.

In my previous article, I have mentioned a few names including George Harmon and Brandon Fleming and either of them could work well in that defence. Former Manchester United man Brandon Williams has also been spotted on trial in Lincolnshire.

Centre Defensive Midfield: Ethan Erhahon

Ethan is the engine room for Lincoln City and does the dirty work whilst also being exceptional at bossing the midfield, to the point that clubs were scouting him and a lot of us expected him to leave!

He didn’t much to our shock, a good shock though! Enjoy him this season because EE is heading for the Championship next year surely!

Centre Defensive Midfield: Ethan Hamilton

Unlike the other Ethan, Hamilton isn’t a shoe in and will be pushed all the way by Conor McGrandles and Tom Bayliss for his spot!

He does compliment Ethan number one though and they’re hard to get past!

Right Midfield: Reeco Hackett

At times last season Reeco was asked to be a wing back and it didn’t really work out!

His speciality is going forward and other than being asked to perform wingback, his best performances in a Lincoln shirt since his move from Portsmouth have been either right midfield or right attacking midfield, where he is able to contribute towards goals and assists!

Central Attacking Midfield: Ben House

Housey first came to the Imps as a striker and scored a few in his first season following his move from Eastleigh.

He has now adapted to the CAM role and compliments that front four in a great way getting into a lot of good positions and being able to contribute towards attacking moves.

This season feels like it needs to be a big one for Ben.

Left Midfield: Jovon Makama

Often used as a scapegoat last season, Makama has come on leaps and bounds since, making that left attacking midfield spot his own!

Makama had his critics but he answered them emphatically last season being the clubs leading scorer and assister, silencing a lot of his doubters!

If Makama can crack on this season then the Imps have a great player on their hands!

Striker: James Collins

Where do I begin? Michael Skubala’s side have been crying out for a consistent striker and despite only joining in January, Collins scored an astonishing 10 goals in just 14 starts following his move from Derby County.

The 34 year old has signed until June 2026.

If these performances continue then there’s no reason why this can’t be extended!
