Luton Town have announced the permanent transfer of a popular loanee following the close of the Winter transfer window.

Yesterday, Luton Town announced the permanent signing of Gideon Kodua from West Ham.
This is welcome news to Hatters fans, as Kodua is currently excelling under Jack Wilshere, and is the clubs top scorer so far this season.
He has scored eight goals in 20 games under Wilshere, and Luton fans will be hoping this form continues through the second half of the season.
Following the deal being made permanent, Kodua told lutontown.co.uk:
“I’m so happy to have made the deal permanent. It’s something I’ve wanted.”
Kodua has quickly become a fan favourite at Kenilworth Road, scoring ten goals in 31 appearances in all competitions without even playing up front!
His blistering form in the league even earned him a place in the LowerTiers Team of The Season!
The deal being made permanent is something that has been in the works for a long time, as in December when questioned over making the deal permanent, Wilshere mentioned:
“Yeah, for sure. What happened before, I can’t comment on, but that is, in my opinion, a really good signing with a really good option in it.”
Wilshere also stated back in January:
“So let’s be patient with that one, but I also feel the fans, they want to see that announcement that it’s permanent and it will be.”
There is one specific reason that the deal for Kodua was completed after the window which some fans might not know.
Following the deadline day arrivals of Davy Van Den Berg and Sverre Sandal, Luton were up to six loan players going into the second half of the season. (Though Sandal was permanent, not a loan.)
This meant that not all of these could play at once.
So, for all six of these players to all be part of a match day squad, one had to be made permanent.
Therefore, making the Kodua signing permanent was ideal for the Hatters, as it is something that Jack Wilshere has wanted for a long time, whilst also making sure that Kodua’s future is tied to Luton.
