A major update has emerged surrounding the pursuit as Wrexham look to strengthen ahead of the rest of their campaign.

As reported by Darren Witcoop on X, Wrexham are pushing hard to make yet another January signing, this time attempting to complete a deal for Istanbul Basaksehir’s Festy Ebosele.

Additionally, West Brom seemed to make a bid for the full back, however it appears the Turkish side has rejected an approach from The Baggies.

A potential transfer will occur on the basis that Portsmouth do not allow the sale of right-back Terry Devlin, a player that graduated through the youth ranks at Pompey.

Furthermore, Wrexham have had somewhat of a clear out this January, with deadwood for example Andy Cannon, James McClean, Conor Coady and Elliot Lee all departing, bringing in defender Zak Vyner.

Who Is Festy Ebosele?

Ebosele began his youth career with Derby County, where he worked his way through the academy and made his professional debut as a teenager during the Lockdown campaign.

Ultimately, his performances for Derby in League One and the Championship caught the attention of other clubs, and in 2023 he signed for Udinese, after featuring for the rams on forty-one occasions.

Following the big move to Italy’s topflight, Ebosele made fifty appearances for Udinese, before making a half a season long loan switch to partner club Watford FC last campaign.

Moving to Turkey on a permanent basis last January transfer window, he’s found game time in the Super Lig relatively hard to come by, only featuring twenty-five times, and now seeks an alternative avenue for game time.

Currently, Wrexham FC’s right-back options are arguably quite depleted and thin on the ground.

Only Issa Kabore on loan from Manchester City is an out-and-out right sided defender contracted to the Welsh Side, so cover in this position undoubtedly is Phil Parkinson’s main target this January transfer window.

Additionally, now that Parkinson’s freed up some wages and space in the squad, a deadline day move for the Irish right-back could be on the cards.
