Port Vale Sign Championship Midfielder

Port Vale haven’t made the best start to the season, sitting 23rd in League One with two points from six games. They’ll be hoping that their latest signing, George Hall, will be able to help them turn things around.

After coming through the Birmingham City academy, Hall would go on to play 41 times for the senior team. He would make his most appearances (30) during the 2022/23 season, going on to be named as Birmingham’s Young Player of the Season.

Following this, Premier League clubs began to circle but Hall would sign a new three-year contract at St. Andrew’s. He spent last season out on loan at Walsall in League Two where he made twenty-two appearances scoring three goals and providing two assists.

What Does He Bring To Port Vale?

He has never played at League One level before, but he will help Port Vale address one of their most pressing concerns at the moment. A lack of goals.

They have scored the joint fewest goals (two) in League One, alongside Peterborough who are bottom of the league. Birmingham Under 18’s manager Martyn Olorenshaw described Hall as “an attacking midfielder with an ability to create and score goals who is explosive, dynamic and has the prowess to influence games.”

The signing of Hall is somewhat risky for The Vale, especially if they are going to be so reliant upon him. Despite his quality, injuries seem to keep cropping up.

Last season he missed twenty-six games trough injury and thirty-eight the season prior. One thing which certainly hasn’t helped things for Port Vale’s attacking numbers is Plymouth Argyle triggering the release clause of striker Lorent Tolaj.

Runners up last season in League Two, The Valiants are certainly giving themselves a good chance of surviving this season, with Hall being their twelfth signing of the summer. Manager Darren Moore seems to be very happy with the signing, stating that Hall is a player with “bags of potential” and that “we’re all looking forward to working with him.”

If Hall can put his injuries behind him, there is no reason why he can’t have a great season at Vale Park.
