Salford City in Talks to Bring in Spurs Defender on Loan

Salford City are understood to be in advanced discussions to secure a loan move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Dorrington, as the January transfer window enters its final days.

The League Two side are looking to strengthen their defensive options for the busy second half of the season, and Dorrington, 20, could provide an experienced and versatile addition.

Boost for Salford’s Defence

Dorrington, a centre-back, recently returned from a loan spell at Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen, where he spent the first half of the 2025–26 season gaining first-team experience.

Salford are reportedly keen to provide him with regular senior minutes in English football, and the move could offer a valuable opportunity for both player and club.

The proposed deal is expected to be temporary, giving Salford immediate reinforcements in defence while allowing Tottenham to monitor his progress.

Dorrington has also represented England at youth level and made his first-team debut for Spurs, highlighting his potential and readiness to contribute at senior level.

For Salford, adding a player of his calibre could provide a boost as they look to climb the League Two table.

Looking Ahead

Negotiations are ongoing, and while no official confirmation has been made, both clubs are hopeful of completing the move before the transfer window closes.

If finalised, Dorrington would join a Salford squad seeking to add defensive solidity and depth for the remainder of the season. Fans will be watching closely as the club aims to strengthen its squad with a promising young talent from Tottenham.
