Sheffield Wednesday could be set to lose midfielder Svante Ingelsson, with the Swede set to be the latest to depart the crisis club, according to Alan Nixon on his X account.
The 27-year-old has played over 50 games across two seasons for the Owls and has been an integral part of their attack. He played 87 minutes of the 2-0 defeat away to Bristol City on Saturday.
He managed to complete 72% of his passes and had 46 touches as he tried to influence the game in his sides favour.
His only goal this season came during the 2-2 draw with Hull City on Boxing Day 2025. Ingelsson is one of the rare shining lights in an awful campaign for the South Yorkshire club.
Ingelsson also got five assists and a goal last season too.
The midfielder moved around the clubs in the first part of his career, before settling when at SC Paderborn in the 2 bundesliga, on loan from Udinese. He would play 32 times for the Germans.
He would then play over 80 times for Hansa Rostock, also in the second tier of German football. He scored three goals whilst there, before moving to the Owls at the beginning of last season.
Where do we begin? The Owls have had a really tough time of it lately and it has been rumoured that Barry Bannan could also be set to leave the club.
Dejphon Chansiri has thankfully left the club but he’s left it in a state that no club should ever find themselves in.
The Owls sit bottom of the table on -7, with the 18 point deduction they received at the start of this Championship season.
It is already widely expected that they will be playing League One football next season.
Ingelsson will have suitors across the leagues but one of the clubs interested are fellow Championship side Portsmouth.
Pompey sit in 22nd position, but a win in the south-coast derby on Sunday afternoon against fierce rivals Southampton could lift them out of the relegation places.
With the administrators needing the money to help run the club, could Ingelsson be the next to leave the crisis club? And would it be Portsmouth or a club abroad?
It is heavily rumoured that the asking price for the midfielder could be as little as £500k according to Nixon.
