Swindon Town Interview: We Chat To Fan Charlie Woods

Swindon Town fan Charlie Woods speaks to The Lower Tiers about the start of the season and the remainder of it.

Swindon Town

Swindon Town currently sit in the automatic promotion places in the EFL League Two so far this campaign, with them positioned third on 55 points.

Now, with the remainder of the season inevitable, Town will be looking to cement their spot in the promotion places and carry on their potential pursuit for promotion.

Ahead of their next fixture against Newport County on the 11th of February, I sat down with Swindon Town fan Charlie Woods to talk all things Town in a Swindon Town interview.

Before we start, I would like to thank Charlie for taking part in this Swindon Town interview. His responses were informative and aim to give you an insight into Swindon Town as a club currently.

Swindon Town currently sits third in the league. How do you feel your team has performed so far this season?

“So I believe we’ve lived up to the expectations, However have been lucky throughout some games, but believe we will be up there come May 2nd.”

Compared to your feelings before the season started, would you say your thoughts now are more positive or negative?

“More positive! I had started to lose a bit of confidence after the rough patch, but with the new signings and recent wins, I’m feeling full confidence again.”

Who would you say has been your best player so far this campaign?

“It’s got to be Drinan, it’s a no-brainer with how Ollie plays him and has got him firing like it’s the easiest thing to do.”

Who has surprised you the most this season, and why?

“Nichols has surprised me the most. I didn’t expect him to do so well in the midfield, as he’s naturally a striker.”

How do you feel your team has performed in cup competitions this season?

“I think we’ve had good runs, but obviously don’t want to talk about cup runs.”

Do you think your manager has done a good job this season, and why?

“Ollie has done a great job. He has the pressure of high expectations from the fans and pundits after bringing us up to 12 last year. But he has got the most out of us so far and bought some absolute gems in.”

Have your owners supported your team enough this season?

“I personally don’t like Clem too much, but I think he’s given Ollie the financial backing to help us build a team to get out of the League, yes.”

Which position has been the most beneficial to your side this season?

“It has to be LB (Fin Munroe) until we lost him recently. But I’d have to go RW (Olakigbe) this half of the season.”

Which position do you feel has held your team back the most this campaign?

“Personally, I don’t think any, but the back line has been a bit of a dance around changing around every game, which hasn’t helped us.”

What do you believe to be a realistic aspiration for your team in the closing stages of the season?

“Top 3 minimum.”
