Birmingham City Manager Issues Message Ahead Of Sheffield United Clash

Birmingham City will face Sheffield United this afternoon as both sides look to push further up the Championship table ahead of a crucial set of fixtures.

The Bluenoses, managed by Chris Davies, were victorious against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday evening with Patrick Roberts ensuring that the Blues picked up all three points.

The win took Birmingham up to tenth and to within eight points of the play-off places.

An additional three points against the Blades could close the gap to five points and could see City move above sides such as Watford and Derby County.

Ahead of the game, Davies have been commenting on key areas. Now, he has issued a key and extensive message to both the supporters and his squad.

Speaking to the press ahead of his side’s clash with Sheffield United, Davies stated: “The players are really buoyed by the win (against QPR) and the way that we played.

“I felt a good response from them, they wanted to make an impact in that game and you could sense it as soon as the whistle went.

“We were very aggressive and we looked like us and the team we want to be.

“You’re always hopeful and optimistic that you can get going again with a run. We went on a really good run from January time up until the Millwall match, so we have been in good form this year.

“I’m really pleased to bounce back because it can start to grow, those runs you can go on, so we had to make sure we put that to bed and got a victory.

“We are always hopeful, we want to go for every game, now we are at home against a good team and I’m sure it will be a big battle tomorrow but hopefully we can do it.

“I’m expecting a really competitive match. We never got a chance against them in the first game, really to get a foothold because we got a man sent off so early.

“Hopefully it will be a different game tomorrow, they are a team that I think will try and put pressure on us, try and press and get the ball forward early.

“But we are at home, we’ve got to really try and make it as imposing as we can in terms of our game and what we do at home.”

With the City boss issuing a message packed with intent, Birmingham City fans will be hopeful that their side can pick up all three points in this afternoon’s game.
