Bradford City Key Man Out With Injury

Bradford City boss Graham Alexander has confirmed one of his key players will miss the trip down to Barnsley at the weekend, as the Bantams look to keep up the heat in what is a very tight playoff picture.

Star man Bobby Pointon is set to miss the clash following an ankle injury that he came off with in the 1-0 defeat to fellow promotion chasers Stevenage last weekend at Valley Parade.

Dan Kemp scored the winner in that match after a scramble in the box, but Pointon only saw 18 minutes of the game, despite attempting to continue.

Speaking to local media, Alexander has now confirmed that he is out of the clash in South Yorkshire.

It doesn’t seem too long term for Bradford City fans though, with Pointon hopeful of making next week’s huge playoff clash at home to Bolton Wanderers, as both sides look for the all important three points.

I think we’ve got a few options,” Alexander said “We’ve got players in the squad that can play that position and have played it this season.

“We’ve got the option of changing something formation-wise to get the best out of the players we have available and that we want on the pitch.

“Anyone can look at our squad and pick out three or four potential options for that position if we play that way. But we’ll see.

“I just wanted to train today, have a look at a couple of things, watch that back through the analysis and make the decision that I feel is right.

“Bobby’s not with us today because he’s gone to get a scan on his ankle.

“We’re just waiting to see how that comes back. He’s a little bit sore and his ankle is swollen but, fingers crossed, there’s no long-term damage.

“He hasn’t trained with us this week, so even if the scan comes back as clear, he’s still got a bit of pain in his ankle so he’s out of the equation.”

As already stated, it’s hoped Pointon will return next weekend, however, City will know more following the scan on his ankle.

One things for sure, anybody would miss a player who has ten goals and three assists this campaign, Pointon is a key cog in Bradford City’s arsenal.
