After days of Gillingham fans speculating, Bradley Dack signed a new Gillingham deal yesterday, which keeps him at the Priestfield Stadium until the end of the 2026/27 season, announced by the club in the same Love Actually style that they announced the season ticket approach in.
This has left Gills fans very much delighted that he is staying. In this article, we outline why this was the best option rather than letting him go.
In the midst of a torrid Gillingham season, Bradley Dack has been one of only a few players who give it their all every week.
With seven goals and a single assist in 37 games, and Gillingham looking like a completely different team without him, he has made a big difference to Gareth Ainsworth’s side.
It is no wonder that fans are left needing answers when he is not in the starting XI. Dack’s confidence will also have been given a boost, with this being the most he has played in seven seasons, mainly due to two very serious cruciate ligament injuries during his time at Blackburn.
But, now, Dack seems to be enjoying his football again. He is currently Gillingham’s top scorer this season and it will be no surprise if he wins Gillingham’s player of the year.
Many Gillingham fans on social media said they would not renew or buy a season ticket if Dack was not playing for the Gills in the 2026/27 campaign.
And with many calling desperately for a rebuild this summer after how the season has gone, the Gillingham faithful wanted Bradley Dack to be at the heart of it. They now have their wish.
News of his contract extension may have made the club a few extra pounds through season ticket sales come the start of the new season in August.
Since arriving at Gillingham, it took Bradley Dack from August to April 12th (due to injuries) to score his first goal since rejoining, a last-minute winner vs MK Dons at Priestfield. He has scored seven this season, however, with a rate of one goal every 329 minutes, his second best in a season.
He has produced a lot of magic moments in League Two, including a sublime free kick vs Barnet in November, and a very clever corner routine vs Crawley the week before, and Gillingham fans hope the same can be seen from him next season.
But, with Dack being 32, and injuries having a huge impact on him ever since 2019, 2026/27 may unfortunately be his final season in ME7.
Ultimately, this is the best scenario for fans, the club and Bradley Dack.
The fans evidently enjoy watching him play, the club will sell season tickets for the upcoming season and Dack is clearly happy at Gillingham, which makes next season very exciting.
