Fleetwood Town Agree Deal For Port Vale Defender

Fleetwood Town will be aiming for success in the rest of the League Two season as the outfit looks to climb the table and avoid relegation.

The Cod Army currently sit 15th on 37 points since they started the season, on Saturday, they lost 2-1 to Notts County, who currently sit 5th in the table.

Meanwhile, the outfit has conceded 37 goals so far this season and currently sits on a goal difference of zero.

Mitch Clarke

With this in mind, Fleetwood Town could look to recruit more than one defender in the closing stages of deadline day to help limit their leaky defence and provide more depth.

Now, the Cod Army have reportedly agreed a loan deal for Port Vale defender Mitch Clarke, according to Pete O’Rourke on his X account.

The 26-year-old has featured12 times for Port Vale so far this season in League One, with him contributing to one assist.

For Clarke, a move to Fleetwood could offer an opportunity to compete with other defenders and gain more game time, as well as improve his defensive ability.

It could be argued that the quality and lack of consistency of Clarke in a League One side, the move could be beneficial for both parties.

Clarke’s 24/25 Stint For Port Vale In League Two

If he can hit the same form that he displayed last season at Port Vale in League One (where he made 22 appearances, picked up one assist, won 52.1% of his duels and 63% of his aerial duels), the 26-year-old could provide defensive stability to Fleetwood.

Whilst the Cod Army are trying to get the addition over the line, Fleetwood supporters who are interested could look to see how he could benefit the side in the short term.

However, with the deadline very close, the decision may have to be quick if a deal is to be successful.
