Over the years, some sections of the Watford fanbase have made calls for current owner Gino Pozzo to sell the club due to many years of failure and mockery.
Following Watford‘s loss to Sheffield United , a larger proportion of the fanbase have voice their disgruntlement towards the man at the top.
The Watford fans have had to endure a lot over the last seven years. Following the side’s FA Cup success in 2019, it seems to be that Gino Pozzo has lost interest in the club and drastically favors our Italian sister club, Udinese Calcio.
Secondly, the club has had to deal with years of mismanagement and is in part in reference to the heavy turnover of managers at the club. In the 2025/26 season, Watford has gone through four managers, starting with Paulo Pezzolano and seemingly ending with Will Still‘s brother, Ed Still.
Thirdly, Gino Pozzo’s relationship with Football Agent, Mogi Bayat. The relationship between the two has been heavily questioned over the last couple of months due to both parties being allegedly involved in legal issues over the various crimes they are accused of such as tax evasion and the “favoritism” of the players that Bayat is the agent for.
This includes players like former Watford player Moussa Sissoko before he was sold to Panathinakos in the Greek League.
The FA has also questioned their relationship and it has previously investigated for potential football club malpractice.
When Gino Pozzo brought Watford Football Club from Lawrence Bassini, he inherited only eight million in debt. The club now sits with debts of around 80 million.
To pay off the debt, Watford sells the players that hold the highest market value. In previous years, the sales of Joao Pedro, Ismalia Sarr, and Yaser Asprilla have stood out. However, these sales have hurt the team exponentially and limited their success.
As well as this, it is feared that the money that is left is being put back into Gino Pozzo’s beloved Udinese.
The latest round of Watford FC accounts are pretty shocking as reported by finance expert, Kieran Maguire.
The club borrowed over 69 million pounds yet only a small fraction was re-invested into the team. This has led to the fans questioning the owners integrity and care.
Amongst this, the current Chairman of the club currently earns over 900,000 pounds even after taking a pay reduction due to the club’s placement within the pyramid.
A while ago, the club experienced a “BACS Error”. However, due to some evidence, it is to believed that the players simply were not payed on time yet the club blamed it on their used banking system.
Some fans believe it was Gino Pozzo and the club “covering a trace” which once again highlights his lack of care and compassion towards players, staff and fans.
Due to Gino Pozzo’s ownership of the club, amongst fans, several protests are in the organisation process and hopes to show Gino the discontent within the fan base in the hope that he sells the club
To answer the overall question, has Gino killed Watford FC? Most Watford fans would say an undebatable yes.
