What’s Next For Kasey Palmer After His Luton Town Loan Spell?

Kasey Palmer enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Luton Town for the second half of the season where he recorded eight goals and one assist in all competitions. The 29-year-old will return to his parent club, Hull City, to evaluate his future.

The Jamaican international made waves joining the team at Kenilworth Road where he and Jack Wilshire had one goal; promotion. Unfortunately, Luton finished in seventh, one point outside the playoff places.

The Hatters did tremendously well to recover from being as low as 15th in the division to give themselves a fighting chance at the end, however.

Palmer was open to a move in early February when his loan move was confirmed; however, the drop in divisions may not be something he may fancy.

Hull City were recently promoted to the Premier League, following the Tigers’ last-gasp victory against Middlesbrough in the play-off final, and will play top-flight football for the first time since 2017 next season.

It remains to be seen where the club stands on Palmer’s future, whether this be incorporating the midfielder into the squad or sending him back out on loan for further experience.

Clubs Kasey Palmer Could Join Next

Luton Town

Palmer does have the chance to remain a Hatter, seeing the relationship he has with the club, fans, and manager.

As mentioned previously, Palmer did win the Luton Town Player of the Month award so acquiring him would be a massive coup for the club.

Bristol City

As a former player of Bristol City, a return cannot be ruled out.

Bristol City finished the Championship season smack in midtable (12th). The Robins’ situation is much different from the other teams mentioned. Palmer would slot directly into that central attacking midfield position for the Robins as George Earthy is in on loan and Jason Knight is better suited in other areas of the field.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Newly relegated but looking to get promoted the first time of asking, Wolves would be a destination not as outlandish as people may think. Getting relegated to the second division, the club may lose attacking midfielder Angel Gomes, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, leaving only 18 year old Mateus Mane.

The club do view him as a big talent, but having him as the only one in a 46-game season in one of the toughest leagues may not be ideal and some experience could be needed.

Compared to these options, Kasey does not shy away in the stats department. Per Squawka, Palmer averages 1.7 chances per 90, 0.5 goals per 90, 1.1 shots on target per 90, and 2.6 touches in the opposition box per 90.

He is top in all those categories except for touches, where George Earthy (2.7 p90) is the only one with a better mark than the Jamaican. There is a chance where a decision happens at the end of June after the Unity cup and rest period that follows.
