One of the main talking points recently at Lincoln City has surrounded that of gaffer Michael Skubala following a sensational season.
The 43-year-old has reportedly signed a new contract at the LNER stadium, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on his X account.
Skubala has been in charge of the Imps since November 2023 and in that time he has won over half of his games, 71 within 140 matches. This means a points per game ratio of 1.75 per match.
The concern for the fans at Lincoln City comes from the fact that Skubala made it down to the final two for Championship side Bristol City, alongside Bournemouth assistant Tommy Elphick, who is expected to be announced at the Robins very soon.
The Ashton Gate outfit had allegedly paid the £1m release clause in Skubala’s contract with the Imps. This new contract will hopefully have a higher, or even better, no release clause.
Skubala has taken the Imps to the League One title, with the champions acquiring an impressive 103 point tally across the 46 games.
This stat includes a 29-game unbeaten run which stretches back to the defeat to Wycombe Wanderers back in November last year.
The Imps have retained much of their squad as well ready for the challenge of the Championship, as the Imps look to embark on a season in the second tier since the 1960’s.
The club are waiting on responses from goalkeeper Jamie Pardington and defender MJ Kamara after offering the pair new deals.
A lot of the success Skubala has achieved has come from his background both at Leeds United and in Futsal, with the LNER club playing a press from the front style that starves the opposition and forces them into a mistake.
Lincoln City fans will be much happier knowing they’ve tied down their man.
