It has been revealed today by Oak Road Hatter that Luton Town hold an interest in Stevenage Borough midfielder Harvey White.
White, 24, is out of contract this summer, however he has been offered new terms by the Hertfordshire based side.
He is also on the radar of multiple other Championship and League One clubs; although these clubs haven’t been revealed.
Luton have had a previous interest in White, seeing a deadline day bid rejected in February.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster played in 50 matches in all competitions for Stevenage this season, being a standout performer in their run to the League One Play-Offs, where they lost to Stockport County.
In 46 league matches this season, White managed to register four goals and seven assists, starting 41 of these games.
One of the reasons Luton may have renewed interest in White is due to a lack of midfield options, with Kasey Palmer returning to Hull following his impressive loan spell.
Liam Walsh and Jordan Clark are yet to sign new contracts despite being offered them by the club.
Shandon Baptiste, George Saville and Sverre Sandal are currently Luton’s only contracted central midfielders going into next season.
However, in recent weeks Sandal has been linked with Leeds, potentially leaving Luton even lighter in midfield options.
Therefore, White would bring needed depth to the team, whilst also likely heading straight into the starting lineup.
His production would be valuable, as his seven assists would’ve put him at the top of Luton’s assist charts.
He would also likely be a mainstay in Luton’s midfield for years to come, only being 24 years old.
His availability is a strong point as well, as he started every league match from January to the playoffs.
This availability is something Luton struggled with this season, with neither Clark or Walsh managing to play 40 games.
It could bring the futures of Clark and Walsh into question however, as the club already being interested in new midfield targets could be a sign that they won’t sign the extensions that they’ve been offered.
