Luton Town: Is The Championship Dream Still Alive?

It all comes down to this. With only one game left in EFL League One, Luton Town are only one point from a promotion place.

Unbeaten in their last ten games in the league, they have started to hit top form at the right time. It wasn’t that long ago that Kenilworth Road was a Premier League stadium, and after their double relegation, the Bedfordshire club definitely has ambitions to return to the big time someday and that starts with a Championship return.

Sitting in seventh on 71 points, only Stevenage stand in their way of a playoff position. Sitting one point above Plymouth Argyle who also have ambitions for the above division, this is their biggest test in the last three years.

Luton have recovered from being as low as 13th in the table and thanks to Jack Wilshire and his recruitment team, promotion is closer than ever.

They are being led by on-loan midfielder Kasey Palmer who has scored eight goals since joining in January. Never fall in love with a loan player they say, but don’t tell that to Hatters fans.

The Jamaican international has recorded five G/A in his last three league games and is determined to help Jack Wilshire get back to the Championship.

Recently named Luton Town’s Player of the Season, the 29-year-old has put this team on his back to achieve the ultimate goal.

The squad is filled with players experienced enough for the Championship like Teden Mengi, Shandon Baptiste, Nahki Wells, and Elijah Adebayo so the squad shouldn’t be in trouble of a quick relegation back to League One.

No team has accumulated more points in the last five games than Luton (13) showing the form they are currently in.

Lincoln City and Cardiff City (13) are the only teams on par with Luton currently.

The final game for Luton Town is away to Bolton Wanderers on May 2nd where their fate could be sealed. Stevenage face Wigan Athletic on the final day, while Bradford City take on Exeter City.

The Betting Lounge has Luton with 10/1 odds to make the playoffs as they are a “chaser” with a 26% chance to make it.
