Mansfield Town currently sit 16th in League One, with the Stags having played 19 games during the campaign so far.
Meanwhile, the side are also in their second season back in the English third tier following promotion in the 2023-24 season from League Two.
Therefore, with a 17th place finish last season, consolidation and progression could be the aim.
The early results of this can be seen in the 19 matches played where Town have picked up 23 points.
However, this points total leaves them just one point above the relegation zone currently arguably posing a risk to the outfit.
But, with a busy festive period coming up, Nigel Clough’s side will have the opportunity to pull themself further up the table and away from the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, in the festive period, Mansfield will face Stockport County (sixth), Barnsley (eighth), and Bolton Wanderers (fourth) before hosting second placed Bradford City at home on the 1st of January.
Now, the Stags have been impacted by a key fixture change which will see a game in January changed.
Announcing the news on the official Mansfield Town website, Town have stated that their fixture against Peterborough United (which was originally suppose to take place on the 13th of January) has been re-arranged.
The side have stated that the fixture will now take place on Tuesday 10th February.
Furthermore, the side revealed that this is due to Mansfield’s participation in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup where the Stags will travel to Sheffield United.
As well as this, Mansfield have confirmed that all tickets bought for the game originally will be valid in the rearranged fixture.
With this news now revealed, attention could turn to the two sides to see the reaction to this announcement.
However, due to the game taking place on a Tuesday, attendances could be lower which will impact both sides.
