Middlesbrough are one of the sides aiming for success in the Championship with Boro looking for promotion to the Premier League come the end of the season.
The outfit, managed by Kim Hellberg, are currently second in the league after their first 29 games of the season. However, Ipswich Town are just five points behind them creating an element of risk should they go on a period of bad form.
With this in mind, the January transfer window arguably has offered the opportunity for Boro to improve their squad in the right areas and to give them the necessary players to extend their gap between them and Ipswich whilst increasing their chances of automatic promotion.
So far this month, the outfit have signed Leo Castledine and Fin Munroe adding needed depth in key positions.
Now, the side have confirmed the signing of Jeremy Sarmiento on their official website with him arriving on a loan basis from Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the season.
Furthermore, there is an option in the deal for the move to become permanent (subject to the terms of the deal).
Commenting on the deal, Sarmiento stated: “I’m very pleased to finally be here. The ambition from everyone at the club is what attracted me to Boro.
“I’m hungry to get going and I can’t wait to show people what I can do.”
Prior to joining Middlesbrough, Jeremy Sarmiento had experience with Ipswich Town in early 2024 when he added to their push for promotion with four goals in the 22 he made for the club.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old also had loan spell at Burnley last season with him scoring four times in 37 appearances.
He had also been on the target list for Birmingham City with Brighton and Birmingham agreeing a deal for the winger to join the the Bluenoses.
However, this deal was hijacked allowing him to join Middlesbrough.
Now, Boro fans may look to see when he makes his debut.
